Imbela Mission, DRC

The Imbela Mission asked the EKI Foundation to help them solve their electricity supply problem. The mission is located in Kwango Province in a very rural setting with no access to the electricity grid and no major infrastructures. The mission had a generator set for power supply which generated many problems due to lack of fuel and mechanical problems. The shortage of diesel fuel is common in this remote area due to the poor condition of the roads that makes the transportation of goods very difficult, especially during the rainy season.
The Mission has a parish community, sisters' convent, church, health center and maternity ward, and 20 houses of mission collaborators (health center and mission workers). The solar system was sent thanks to a container sent jointly with the NGOs Ayuda Contenedores and Nos Unimos.
The Imbela Mission contacted EKI through the Popokabaka diocese and thanks to other EKI projects in the area. Thanks to the solar system, the Mission now has a reliable and safe electricity supply.
