Matola Vocational Training Center

The NGO Jóvenes y Desarrollo, in collaboration with the EKI Foundation and the Salesians of Mozambique, has developed and presented the project "Promotion of environmental sustainability in Mozambique through training and implementation of photovoltaic energy facilities", which has been funded by AECID.

Within this project, the Matola vocational training center stands out as one of the three key participants. Located in the province of Maputo, in southern Mozambique, this center is managed by the Salesians of Don Bosco and focuses on providing vocational training to young people in the region.

The project aims to promote environmental sustainability in Mozambique through the use of renewable energy, while providing employment opportunities for young people in the emerging field of photovoltaics. This specialization has started in three centers of the Salesian Vocational Training Network in Maputo (Matola Vocational Center, San José de Lhanguene and Instituto Superior Don Bosco), training at least 75 young people.

EKI provided support in the procurement and installation of the equipment for the photovoltaic vocational training laboratory at this center, as well as in the design and supervision of the solar installation. Both trainers and students played an active role in the implementation of the solar system as an essential part of their practical training. It should be noted that the equipment was purchased and assembled in collaboration with the local company Logos Industries.
