Wamba Luadi Hospital
The Wamba Luadi Hospital contacted the EKI Foundation in 2021 to request a solar installation, since the center's access to electricity is practically non-existent. After many delays due to logistical difficulties, the system was launched in 2023, which will allow the hospital to work without light 24 hours a day and to better store medicines and vaccines.
The Hospital is located in the Kwango province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is a rural area that lacks large infrastructures which makes development of the area very difficult. The region does not have access to the electricity grid and the supply of fuel for the generator set is very difficult and expensive due to the complicated logistics required.
- NGO: Hôpital Général de la Référence Évangelique de Wamba Luadi
- Service: Light and electricity 24/7
- Impact: access to electricity for the hospital
- PV Instalation: 36 panels (16.38 kWp) and lithium batteries (30.8 kWh)
- Social Impact: improved quality of healthcare services
The execution of this project has been possible thanks to the extraordinary effort of Father F. Prado, a Jesuit originally from Guatemala who has been dedicated to accompanying and serving these communities for more than 50 years.
The local electrician Fidele also arranged and extended the electrical installation to all the hospitals buildings.
