Rofaika School
The Heres Foundation (fundacionheres.org) together with the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God have built in 2021 a school for 300 primary school children in Rofaika, a rural village surrounded by rice plantations and only accessible by unpaved roads, and of course out of reach of the electricity grid. They have also built new houses for teachers, the only way to attract quality teachers in remote areas far from the cities.
Thanks to the subsidy of the city of Getxo, The EKI Foundation installed a solar installation in 2022 and the school now has a reliable and sustainable electricity supply.
