Training programme in Mozambique
The NGO Jóvenes y Desarrollo, in collaboration with the EKI Foundation and the Salesians of Mozambique, has developed the project "Promotion of environmental sustainability in Mozambique through training and implementation of photovoltaic energy installations", which has been funded by the Spanish Agency for Development Cooperation (AECID). The local schools involved are the Instituto Superior Don Bosco and the San José de Lhanguene centre, both in the town of Maputo, and the Salesian Vocational Training Centre in Matola.
The project aims to promote environmental sustainability in Mozambique through the use of renewable energy, while providing employment opportunities for young people in the emerging field of photovoltaics. EKI has supported the procurement and installation of equipment for the photovoltaic vocational training laboratory at these centres, as well as the design and supervision of a solar installation at each of the three centres.
- NGO: Salesians of Don Bosco
- Training: level 2 vocational training certificate in photovoltaic electricity (1,480 hours)
- Impact: 1 graduating class (60 students)
Both trainers and students played an active role in the implementation of the solar system as an essential part of their practical training. It should be noted that the equipment was purchased and assembled in collaboration with the local company Logos Industries.
