Guadalupe Sec School Project, Sierra Leone

Guadalupe Sec School, an all-girls secondary school run by the Clarissan Sisters of Sierra Leone, faced a major challenge: access to electricity. The school, which is off-grid, relied on a diesel generator, limiting available electricity hours and incurring high fuel and maintenance costs.

In September 2024, EKI installed a solar energy system at the school, solving this issue and significantly improving the conditions. Thanks to this installation, the students now enjoy more study time, online classes, and computer use, as well as lighting for evening study and refrigerators to preserve food in the cafeteria. Security has also been enhanced, with electricity in the dorm rooms and outdoor lighting.

This solar installation was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Susana Monsma Foundation, based in Spain, which funded the project to make it happen.
