Christ The King Hospital Project, Sierra Leone

Christ The King Hospital in Waterloo, Sierra Leone was inaugurated in 2017 with the support of Caritas Freetown. It is a medium-sized facility with a general ward and a maternity ward. However, the hospital was isolated from the electricity grid. Previously, it relied on a diesel generator that operated for only a few hours a day. Increasing demands from new equipment (such as incubators and surgical units) and soaring fuel costs were threatening the hospital's ability to function normally.
In response to a request from Caritas Freetown, EKI installed and financed a solar power system to provide a continuous 24/7 electricity supply. This system was successfully installed in August 2023 and is now fully operational.

- Impact: Stable and reliable power source, significantly improving the hospital's ability to operate essential medical equipment and maintain services
