The Society of Catholic Missionary Sisters, generally known as the Medical Mission Sisters, began providing medical assistance to the vulnerable population of Ghana in 1948. In 2020 they started a public health program in Kulmasa, in the north of the country, as this is an area where there is virtually no care or services.
In 2022 the Kulmasa hospital contacted the EKI Foundation through the Salesians of Don Bosco, to study the possibility of installing a solar installation to serve the clinic and the residence, as there is no access to the electricity grid in the area.
- NGO: Medical Mission Sisters
- Service: Electricity and 24/7 power supply
- Impact: Clinic and residence
- PV installation: 72 panels (28.8 kWp), lithium batteries (45 kWh)
- Social impact: Improved quality and service of the residence
After an extensive process of joint analysis between the Foundation, Don Bosco Solar (the solar energy division of the Salesians of Don Bosco) and the Hospital in order to install a solar system that would provide the best possible service to the center, it was determined that the implementation of the project on site would be done by Don Bosco Solar with the supervision of EKI. This collaboration has been a success, being one of the first installations that EKI has carried out with partners.
