FOOP TORMABUM Project, Sierra Leone

The majority of farmers in Sierra Leone remain in poverty because they struggle to profit from their crops. FOOP, an organisation originally from Argentina, helps farmers make their crops more productive through mechanisation and the use of better inputs. In a remote area of southern Sierra Leone, isolated from the electricity grid, FOOP operates a centre where they work with a significant group of local farmers to improve rice yields.

In May 2024, EKI installed a photovoltaic system to power FOOP's offices, agricultural machinery repair workshop, warehouses and the homes of FOOP staff and volunteers.
