Through this project, the electricity supply of the Salesians' residence in the city of Bo in Sierra Leone is improved. From this center, projects are managed and coordinated to improve the living conditions of the community. The salesians also carry out important projects in the local prison.
They had a small solar photovoltaic installation connected to the grid, but due to its limited capacity it had to be improved to ensure a reliable electricity supply during Sierra Leone's continous power grid outages.
EKI designed an installation that took advantage of the existing solar panels while adding a 5kVA charger inverter, as well as a 15.4 kWh lithium battery. It was also taken into account that the system can be expanded according to the future energy needs of the community.
